Geographic Information Systems

The spatial character of natural resource projects often requires specialized geographic data management. WET offers a full range of GIS services to help you collect, manage, analyze, and display spatial data. WET utilizes Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) products such as ARC/INFO and ArcGIS.

WET’s GIS Services:

Data collection and display

WET can help you specify, acquire, install and maintain equipment and software for data collection and display, or WET can collect spatial data using mapping or survey-grade Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. WET can correct and project GPS data for seamless integration with GIS data. WET can also digitize existing data sources or translate information from other data formats such as AutoCAD.

Data management

Automated data collection systems can quickly increase the amount of spatial data to be managed. Database design and development are critical components of any GIS project. Our experience will ensure that your projects’ spatial data component is well organized and robust right from the start.

Data analysis and problem-solving

Analysis of spatial data is often the first step toward the application of environmental or hydrologic models. WET can create a GIS systems approach to problem-solving with customized tools for hydrologic analyses, streamflow forecasting, environmental impact assessment and operations management. WET can couple proven, off-the shelf databases and software with software or graphical user interfaces (GUIs) developed in-house and integrated with ArcGIS. GIS datasets are commonly input directly into modeling, allowing design options to be analyzed quickly, accurately and economically.
